Martha Sotiriou

Heartfelt welcome also to Martha Sotiriou who will join the Callias Ensemble for the premiere of 'Octocorallia' by Alexander Maria Wagner during the Athens Democracy Forum organized by the Democrcy & Culture Foundation in Association with the New York Times at the Terrace of the City Hall in Athens.

Martha Sotiriou is a Greek mezzo-soprano, active both in Germany and Greece. Her repertoire includes operas (The Barber of Seville, La Cenerentola, Hänsel und Gretel, Rigoletto, The Magic Flute, Innocence among others), oratorios (Messiah, Elijah, Tongues of Fire), as well as Greek operettas and Lieder. She has collaborated with the Nuremberg State Opera, the Kiel Opera, the Dresden State Opera, the Volksbühne Berlin, the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg, the Görlitz Theater, the Saxony State Theater (Landesbühnen Sachsen), the Eduard von Winterstein Theater, the Ettlingen Festival, the Luisenburg Festival, the Orchestra and Choir of the University of Stuttgart, the Junge Kammerphilharmonie Berlin, the Kammersymphonie Berlin, the Greek National Opera, the Olympia Municipal Theater "Maria Callas", the Athens State Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra and Choir of the Municipality of Athens, the Syros International Music Festival (Syrreo), the Camerata Orchestra and the Megaron Athens Concert Hall, under the guidance of directors such as Jens-Daniel Herzog, Georg Quander, Barbara Beyer, Manuel Schöbel, Geertje Boeden, Christian Filips, Solvejg Bauer, Jonathon Loy, Dirk Schmeding, Anette Leistenschneider and conductors such as Roland Böer, Benjamin Reiners, Ekkehard

She studied singing in Athens (Athens Conservatoire and Athenaeum) and at the Dresden Academy of Music (Master's degree in Opera).
